Water Marble Success

Image
Happy Friday All! Today I have for you as promised my second full-on attempt of a water marble. If you follow me on Twitter I gave a sneak peak of this last night. I was so excited to show it off.  I have been wanting to try this again since my first time I attempted it. The first time I water marbled it was a disaster. They did not turn out the way I wanted and it literally took me 3 hours to do both hands. It was exhausting to say the least and I was a tad bit apprehensive to try it again. Boy am I glad I DID! Look how freaking cool this turned out. Had to showcase the thumb! L-R Sally Hansen Blue Me Away, Wet Concrete, Mellow Yellow. I used a base of Wet n Wild White Creme under the water marble. I used all Sally Hansen polishes for my water marble. I love this color scheme. My sister told me it looked very 70's. I agree! Many water marble tutorials out there tell you to use room temperature water. I tried that and I could not get the polishes to spread out. I finally u

Finger Paints - Get Real-ism!

Image
Today I have yet another polish I got at Sally's the other day. Finger Paints polishes were buy 2 get 1 free so I had to get 3. This color is so unusual I had to have it. Get Real-ism is a shimmery purple lilac with very mauve undertones. The application with this polish was flawless. I used two coats of Get Real-ism for total opaque-ness. I am really digging Finger Paints right now. This polish is more of a fall color to me. I like bright colors for the summer. I will definitely be wearing this again in the fall. Finger Paints has many more colors that I love for fall as well! To be completely honest I was excited for all the fall polish lines after seeing the press releases. Then after seeing them in swatches on other blogs I must say I am kind of bored! I will say the only fall collection I kind of fell in love with was Zoya Smoke & Mirrors. China Glaze's fall collection was not horrible either but not the WOW factor I wanted. What are your favorite collections for f

Sally Hansen - Mellow Yellow

Image
My first yellow polish! I have never bought a yellow polish in the past because I didn't want my nails to look like they are painted with a hi-lighter. I found this creamy yellow shade at Wal-Mart the other day and had to have it. I must confess I fell in love with swatches of Chanel's Mimosa that were circulating around the blogosphere. This color is almost identical to the Chanel polish. Most swatches for Chanel tend to lean a little brighter yellow but it looks creamy like SH Mellow Yellow in the bottle. I found that Mellow Yellow would darken up if it had a top coat on it. My photo below contains no top coat. This polish was a tad streaky as you can tell from the photos. Most of my Sally Hansen polishes are flawless in two coats. This baby was not the same consistency as the others. It was a tad more runnier than most of my other SH polishes. I still like it and it did amazing in a water marble that I tried today that turned out fabulous! Can't wait to show you. I wi

OPI White Shatter - Tape Mani

Image
So as promised in yesterdays post i did a tape mani! Not that elaborate but I like it anyways. I finally got a chance to use my OPI White Shatter over my Finger Paints Tiffany Imposter. I just taped my nail diagonally and also painted the White Shatter in a diagonal pattern as well. I need to find new things to do with my Shatters. I have so many! I have seen a couple photos out there where people have done interesting things with Shatter but I can't find a tutorial for anything. Have you tried anything interesting with your Shatter polishes?

Finger Paints - Tiffany Imposter

Image
Today I have for you another one of the polishes I got at Sally's the other day. This color is one that I have been wanting for awhile. I love Tiffany's (what girl doesn't!) but even more I love this muted down robins egg color. I could not get this color to photograph perfect. This was not for lack of effort. I am planning on getting a new camera for my birthday which is exactly one month from today! I have a couple that I really like but have not decided. I will try to wear a tricky color to photograph to the store, and see which one does best. Well I have been having nail OCD lately and can not leave my nails alone so this mani will probably get taped and painted tonight. I have a few ideas floating around my head so we will see which one comes to life. I will have that post tomorrow!

Finger Paints - Art You Wondering?

Image
Happy Sunday to everyone. Today I have for you a new polish I picked up at Sally's the other day. Finger Paints were buy two get one free. I actually debated over this color for far too long. I have no idea what I was thinking because this polish is amazing! Art You Wondering? is made up of aqua and sea foam green glitter. Blurred for sparklevision    I used 3 coats of Art You Wondering?, and one coat of Seche Vite! I finally got my first bottle of Seche the other day and I have to say I am in love. I'm kinda pissed I did not find out about this stuff earlier. I also learned that Seche and OPI Drip Dry do not mix. I always use my Drip Dry but I have found it is very temperamental with other brand's top coats. I later found out, after I ruined that mani, that I don't even need it. It dries so fast! What is your go-to top coat for everyday?

Tropical Sunset

Image
Happy Friday! Well I don't know about you but I wish I was on a beach somewhere. Instead I'm having to settle for nail art sunsets. I have to say this was quite easy to do, but I will say I am only showing you my left hand for a reason. My Thumb = My favorite! I got my inspiration from  IartKandi's YouTube video. Click the link to watch her video. Her tutorial is great and she taught me everything I know. This is the fist time I attempted sponging let along using a stripe brush to make a object. I mean stripes I have done but palm trees, definitely not. It went better than expected and I love the results. L-R  Glitzerland, Y'all Come Back Ya Hear?, Blazed, Dream Poppy, Black Striper, Makeup Sponge I laid down two coats of Glitzerland to make my nail opaque. I then put one coat of Y'all Come Back Ya Hear? over my whole nail. Next came the sponging which was quite fun. I sponged on Blazed first which is a coral so it blended the orange and the pink togeth

Wet n Wild - Buffy The Violet Slayer

Image
Let me start off by saying I love this color. My camera on the other hand did not like this polish. I took a good 30-50 photos of this one. I lost count obviously. This is the closest I could come to the color. All the photos wanted to turn blue. You can tell in the pic below my pinky finger is slightly blue. I love this color it a gorgeous purple. Almost the same color of my old Ipod Nano. This polish applies beautifully. You can get away with one coat and it dries very quickly. The polish has a thicker consistency than most of the Wet n Wild polishes I have used which is great! It dries to a semi gloss. A top coat would make this pop! Polish sent for review.

Tape Mani - Lightning Bolts

Image
This is my second tape mani that I have attempted and I'm super happy how it turned out! The tutorial I used for this mani is from Nailside , she is a tape master! Visit her site for this mani and much more! For this mani I used Wet n Wild Black Creme as a base and I used Wet n Wild Silvivor for the tips as well as Buffy the Violet Slayer. Buffy the Violet Slayer is too beautiful for my camera but you can see a true color swatch here .  I had used scotch tape for my first tape mani, but went to grab the roll and saw it was empty. Plan B was set in motion and I grabbed the duct tape and hoped it would turn out, and it did! I also liked the duct tape because I have deep ridges along the sides of my nails and the duct tape is pliable enough to stay put there. I decided on an accent nail with the double lighting bolt and I love it.  Have you guys tried a tape mani yet?

Pure Ice - Taupe Drawer

Image
I hope everyone's week is going well so far. Today I wanted to show you Pure Ice Taupe Drawer. I love this polish I picked it up from Wal-Mart last fall for like $2 and quickly fell in love with it. If you know what Rimmel Steel Gray is, this color is similar with more purple in it. The application with this polish is flawless as well. I used two coats for full opaqueness and it dries fast. Sorry for the blurry pic but its color correct!  Do you guys own Pure Ice polishes? What are your favorites?

Orly - Reel Him In

Image
Happy Monday Guys, I have been super lazy today! Feels Good. Today I have for you Orly Reel Him In. To be honest, I have had this color for over 2 years and this is the first time I have worn it. I don't know why I waited so long to use it. I love the color! The application of this polish was amazing. This is two coats and it is completely opaque. I do not own very many Orly polishes because it is hard to get them where I live but I will try to find them when I go and visit my mom! I love the color. I will be wearing this again for sure!

Wet n Wild Jelly Sandwich

Image
Happy Sunday Everyone! Hope you guys are having a great weekend. I just got off work early so my weekend just got better!Today I have for you another couple Wet n Wild polishes. I made my jelly sandwich from Wet n Wild FuchsiaRama and Party of Five Glitters. I have used Party of Five Glitters for this type of mani before because it pops under the coat of jelly polish. I really like the look of layering the glitter under a coat of the thin color because it gives it a bit of sophistication. Or at least that is what I tell myself. Fuchsia Rama can be layered to be opaque it just takes 3 to 4 coats. I used two coats of Party of Five Glitters and one thin layer of FuchsiaRama over it. Confession time: I am really not supposed to be wearing polish where I work. I work for like a sub-company within that company and we don't really adhere to all their rules. If we did my boss would be out of luck because her nails are insane! But anyways, I still don't like to draw that much

Wet n Wild - Hannah Pinktana

Image
Happy Saturday Guys! Today I wanted to show you a couple polishes that I got from Wet n Wild. I loved the How I Met Your Magenta I swatched the other day and didn't want to take it off. I took it off but it will be back soon! My next favorite was Hannah Pinktana which if you know me I despise everything Miley Cyrus so it was very un-natural for me to like this but, I did. What color would you call this? Blurred to show sparklyness! First of all Hannah Pinktana is not really all that pink. It is a hard color to pin point it's not really a purple and it is not really a pink. It's also a very sheer polish so I decided to pair it with another polish I got from Wet n Wild. It is an awesome silver that has a splatter mani coming in its near future. I used one coat of Wet n Wild Silvivor as a base and layered two coats of Hannah Pinktana over. I really like the polish it has a holo kick to it that I love. The polish dried to a semi-matte smooth finish. It was also really

Wet n Wild Checkerboard Nails

Image
I got inspired by Gotham Nails post about her trip to Bloomingdales. I already had white nails from my summertime mani so I decided to try out my first tape mani. Now I am not an expert at this by no means so go to Gotham nails post link I provided becase she has the "tape masters" links at the bottom of her posts. It's like the blind leading the blind over here at the Polish Diary! To be honest I scared myself with this one. It was actually super easy. I just cut small squares of tape and placed them on my nails and painted my favorite black (Wet n Wild Black Creme) that goes on in one coat. I then pulled the paint off. I will tell you that what I learned is to pull the tape off ass soon as you get your design painted. Do not allow to dry because it ruins the design when you go to pull it off.  I also submitted this design for the Wet n Wild Summer Giveaway Contest you can see the entry form here . You can follow them on Twitter at @wetnwildbeauty and while you are t

Faux Water Marble Second Attempt

Image
So this is my second attempt at the faux marble. I have heard this technique called faux water marble as well as tie-dye nails. The best way to explain it is to watch it so head on over to Dollface22772 YOU TUBE Channel and see for yourself. The polishes I used for mine was China Glaze Platinum Silver, OPI That's Berry Darling, Wet n Wild Dream Poppy and Blazed. My mistake has been that I am using a toothpick when I should be using a needle or straight pin. I will be trying this again for sure! It's so easy I hope to master it soon. Do you guys water-marble? Does this look like a way faster process to you with similar results?

Wet n Wild - How I Met Your Magenta

Image
So I had this and some other polishes arrive in the mail yesterday and I could not wait to put this on my nails! I got the remover straight out and went to work.  This color is a bright pink shade with a gold shimmer. It reminds me of some polishes I have seen recently that I could not afford. Wet n Wild How I Met Your Magenta is from the Wet n Wild Fast Dry line. The polishes deliver on the fast dry even thought they do dry to a matte finish. But I'm a topcoat kind of gal with even the shiniest polishes so it does not bother me. The polish was a thin consistency I have two coats in the photo below. Next time I wear this shade which I will, I will put it on top a opaque white or silver that I own. Overall I love this polish and will be wearing it again soon! Did I mention I already put this on my toes too! It's so pretty! What do you guys think? Follow Wet n Wild on Twitter Visit Wet n Wild Website Follow Wet n Wild on Facebook Polish sent for review.

OPI vs Finger Paints

Image
Today I wanted to show you some polishes that I have that are very similar. When I received the mini OPI Katy Perry Collection I was a tad bit disappointed because this pink is very similar to ones that I personally own. I have two Finger Paints polishes that are very close in color to OPI The One That Got Away. The two Finger Paints polishes are LE Tropical Girl from the 2007 Island Girl Collection and Sketched & Etched. I could not find much info on Sketched & Etched other than Finger Paints made another polish called Sketched N Etched that is a green color. You can tell from the photo that OPI The One That Got Away is a tad darker that the other two. Finger Paints Tropical Girl is still my fave fuchsia/pink that I own. I fell in love with the color 4 years ago and the love is still there. What are your favorite pinks?

Wet n Wild Summertime Mani

Image
Happy Monday Everyone! I love white polish for summer time. It's so bright and always gets noticed. I am really into the accent nail right now as well so I paired the two. I have swatched both of these colors previously but I love them. Both are opaque in two coats and they dry fast! I used Wet n Wild French White Creme and Dream Poppy. Do you guys like white polish?

Crazy Weekend

Hello all! Well I have had quite the eventful weekend. My sister had a baby yesterday. Ozzy Phillips is his name and he is the cutest thing ever! I had every intention of posting today but on my way home from work I got rear-ended. All is fine on my end, my car is a little hurt. But I thank the Lord because it could have been worse. Needless to say no post today but I will be back tomorrow! I also wanted to thank all my amazing followers! I can't believe I have over 50! I didn't know if anyone would care about my nail blog when there is so many. I just want to thank you for enjoying my piece of the nail blogosphere because I am thoroughly enjoying it! And its a total excuse to buy more polish which I love! Have a great rest of the weekend guys! -Stephanie

Love My Nails Glitter

Image
I picked up a few Love My Nails glitter polishes awhile back and I tried a few of them recently and wanted to Share. I paired both of these glitters with China Glaze Platinum Silver. Love My Nails Crystal is a clear base with flecks of iridescent glitter and large round holo flecks. Love My Nails All That is a light purple/clear base with purple and silver holo square glitter These glitters were a little difficult to get on the nail but I tried as best as I could. For a dollar I guess I can't be that mad about it. I would definitely try these with some jellies!

Faux Water Marble Fail

Image
I have seen quite a few tye dye nails or faux watermarbles on the net recently and wanted to try it. If you have ever tried a water marble they can be quite labor intesive and I was curious about a shortcut! Obviously this looks nothing like water marble but i went with the design anyways. Practice makes perfect! While this is a total fail I wanted to post it anyways because it kinda looked cool. I tried out another faux water marble tonight and it was not a total fail! I will have that post soon! I used China Glaze Frostbite, Platinum Silver, and Up All Night. Has anyone every attemted the faux marble?

Splatter Mani

Image
I tried another splatter mani the other night. I got the color combination inspiration from the shirt I was wearing. It is a very summery shirt and thought that would translate onto my nails. I used two coats of Wet n Wild French White Creme as a base for the splatter. For the splatter colors I used Sinful Colors Savage and Dream On. I also used OPI Silver Shatter as that is the sparkly silver you see on top of the colors. I wanted to use the Shatter because of the color mainly. The OPI Silver Shatter is the most gorgeous silver I have seen. It didn't shatter as if you would have painted it on your nail but I like the effect nonetheless. I had to clean the straw more with the shatter because, it will dry in a huge clumps and you do not want that on your nail. If your not sure about how to do the splatter mani see my earlier post for a brief how-to. I'm really loving these splatter manis! Who else has tried one?

Sally Hansen Rockstar Pink

Image
I just bought this polish recently at Walgreen's when they were on sale. I layered it over a coat of OPI Do You Think I'm Tex-y. It has so much sparkle to it I love it. Sally Hansen Rockstar Pink has hints of pink, blue, gold, red glitter. I bought this because a girl at work had it and I wanted it! Flash Photo to show the sparkle factor! Love this polish and for $2 it was money well spent!

Wet n Wild - Dream Poppy

Image
Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend! I know I did. Well I picked this color up the other day and have been dying to try it. The color is called Dream Poppy and it is from the Wet n Wild - Wild Shine Collection (The cheap stuff!). This photographed much more bright pink than it actually is. I went through all the pics and not one really represented the color all that great. The color is most closest to the color that is on my pinky finger in the picture below. This was 2 coats Such a lovely pink!

July 4th Mani Take 2

Image
Here is my second mani I did for the weekend. I used Love My Nails Seductive Red as the base of all my nails. For the flag i used China Glaze Frostbite and Sinful Colors Bad Chick-White Nail Art. I loved how these turned out. For the stars in the blue I used a toothpick for smaller dots. I have got quite a lot of compliments on it so far. Hope you all have a great July 4th!

July 4th Mani Take 1

Image
Happy 4th everyone I hope you are having a fabulous weekend! I was inspired by my Flickr Nails Tuesday post this past week to do a drippy mani. I fell in love with the look when I first saw it and had to do it. From looking online I found that people had used dotting tools. I do not own any tools for that purpose so I had to McGyver it. I found two pens that had rounded ends and away I went. I used Wet n Wild French White Creme for my base and used Love My Nails Seductive Red and Sinful Colors Midnight Blue. Wanted to give you a quick shot of the pens I used. I loved how it turned out. Have any of you tried this?

OPI Blue Shatter

Image
I'm getting around to trying all my OPI Shatters I got. The next shatter I tried was the OPI Blue Shatter. I layered it over e.l.f. Desert Haze. The blue is really pretty and over the nude color it really popped. Side Note: Why do these OPI Shatters have such generic names. I like the fun names of China Glaze Crackles. Just Saying!
