OPI Silver Shatter

Image
This is yet another of the shatters I received from my mom. The OPI Silver Shatter was a part of the Pirates of the Caribbean Collection which i have still yet to receive. I paired the silver shatter with Sinful Colors Savage. I really loved the look of the silver shatter. The color is amazing and it is so shiny! Isn't it sparkly? I prefer the sparkle shatters to the plain ones

e.l.f Desert Haze

Image
I picked up this bottle of e.l.f. Desert Haze this past Christmas. e.l.f had an amazing sale, and everything was 50% off. Needless to say, I went nuts! This was the first time i actually put this polish on. It took three coats for totally opaque-ness. Its a great nude color especially for $.50! Have any of you tried e.l.f polishes?

Mini Haul & Storage Solution

Image
So I adventured out to the ol' Wal-Mart today and found some new goodies. I always scour the polish isles to see if anything catches my eye and I had to practically get on my knees to find these beauties from the Love My Nails Brand. Some Wal-Mart's carry the brand and some do not. Luckily I have 3 Wal-Marts within a 5 mile radius. The best thing about the Love My Nails Brand is that the polish is extremely cheap. Were talking ONE DOLLAR cheap! From L-R Violets Are Blue; Star Bright; All That; Crystal. Violets Are Blue - Clear base with iridescent glitter and teal/blue and purple heart glitter. Star Bright - Pink-ish clear base with small pink glitter and silver and purple glitter stars. All That - Purple tinted clear base with silver, purple, and holo glitter! (The sparkliness was too much for my camera) Crystal - Clear base with iridescent small flecks and large hexagon silver holo glitter pieces. I also found some storage for my growing polish collection....

Pre-Gaming for July 4th

Image
With July 4th one week away I have been wondering what to do with my nails for the 4th. Where I live July 4th is a pretty big deal. I live in a tourist town, work at a tourist trap, and show my nails all day long and like them to be neat! This is one idea I tried the other night. I used China Glaze Ruby Pumps layered over Love My Nails Seductive Red to make them opaque. For my marble nail I used China Glaze Ruby Pumps, Wet n Wild White Creme, and China Glaze Frostbite. The water marble turned out pretty cool but the Ruby Pumps layered over the white made it to pink.

OPI Turquoise Shatter

Image
Well I am still experimenting with all the shatters my mom got me. I think most of the shatter hype is over so OPI releasing all these colors now seems a bit late. Like I said in my OPI Navy Shatter post I was most excited for the navy. This turquoise color is a GORGEOUS in the bottle and was kind of excited to try it. I decided to layer it with OPI Glitzerland, which is a pale gold color. I didn't hate the results but I think I'm just over shatter. My boss has a great magnetic mani on right now. That will most likely be the new craze. Have you guys tried the turquoise? You like it, if so what is your fave color combo?

My First Splatter Mani

Image
I have been wanting to try out this mani forever! I have not done it sooner because my boyfriend said I had to go outside and do it, guess he is still scared from the water marbling . Well if you follow me on Twitter you know that I have been complaining about the heat here. It finally cooled off a tad here so I decided to venture outside last night and splatter! My base coat for my nails was Wet n Wild Black Creme which is my favorite black! Black Creme only requires one coat and it dries ultra shiny. The brush on my black was a little caddywhompus (haha yes I used that word!) but I trimmed it a bit and no complaints. The polishes I chose for my splatter technique were: the Sally mini my mom got me ; Sally Hansen Blue Me Away; Pure Ice Wild Thing. I started off by taping my fingers so when I go to splatter my nails, it wont get all over my fingers. I placed two strips on each side of my finger and one across the bottom of my nail. I then put a couple globs of ...

OPI - Don't Mess With OPI

Image
This is such an odd color. The jury is still out on this one for me. My boyfriend really likes it. He went to school to be a car painter so he likes to get involved in color selection as much as I do. While I do trust his color sense I just don't know about this green. It's such an odd shade of green. I cannot wait for OPI Fall Touring Collection because I really wanted something that is more of an army/olive green. What do you guys think?

NYC Starry Silver Glitter

Image
I call these my moon nails. I used Sally Hansen Wet Cement and layered two coats of NYC Starry Silver Glitter. I love how these turned out. The glitter is a collection of small holo glitter and larger blue and lavender-ish flecks. So pretty! Loving this glitter!

OPI Navy Shatter

Image
I got my big care package from my mommy!!! She sent me the whole OPI Shatter Collection. The one that I most wanted was NAVY! She also sent me some minis from Sally's Beauty. While the bottle is unnamed the color is a BRIGHT fuchsia. It was very hard to photograph this color. I always have that problem with neon's.

OPI & Wet n Wild Jelly Sandwich

Image
Awhile back I posted my first jelly sandwich and I have yet another. This time I used OPI Y'all Come Back Ya Hear? and Wet n Wild Party of Five Glitters. I love the OPI sorbet shades from the Texas Collection. There application is amazing! I really loved this with the different color sparkles that is Party of Five Glitters. I really want a coral sorbet (jelly) polish. I need the Guy Meets Gal-veston from the Texas Collection. May have to add it to the list! Any suggestions?

Sally Hansen Wet Cement

Image
I picked up this awesome color at Wal-Mart the other night. I love this color. The application was not much fun at all. I had to redo this mani 3 times due to bubbles and pure globby-ness. My final mani was produced with 2 very thin coats.

My First Blog Awards!!!

Image
I am so excited that Alana at Something Polished has passed two blog awards on to me. I only started this blog 3 weeks ago in hopes that I could share my nail obsession with everyone else. It is amazing the responses I have got, and I still find it amazing that people actually read it. This has been such a fun experience and I love it! Alana I want to thank you for considering me and I want to thank you so much! :) The first award the Alana gave me is the Sunshine Award. Here are the rules for this award: Thank the person who gave you this award Write a post about it Pass it on to 10 bloggers who you think really deserve it and send them message to let them know Alana Passed Another Award on to me as well!!

Newspaper Nails

Image
I was sitting at home tonight wondering what to do with my nails and my fellow blogger friend  Nails Tonic had a great mani called a newspaper mani! I have seen these mani's on the internet, on different sites and had always wondered how to do it. The whole process just involves you placing strips of newspaper on your dry nails and holding a alcohol soaked cotton ball on top for about a minute(while applying pressure). All we had in close proximity to me was the sports pages so NASCAR nails I did. I thought my boyfriend would think it was cool (which he did) if I chose to rep his favorite sport. I used OPI San Tan-Tonio from the Texas collection. I love this color I just wish I had more of a tan.  So happy with the way it turned out! Anyone else try this?

Neutral Cheetah Nails

Image
Awhile back i had some nails that I had posted for Flickr Nails Tuesday that I fell in love with. They were a cute take on the cheetah nail. It was more of a neutral design. I had to try this mani out myself. I applied a coat of Wet n Wild French White Creme to make my nail opaque. I applied two coats of Sinful Colors Social Ladder (thin consistency). I made my dots using Rimmel-Steel Gray. The black outlines were made using Wet n Wild Black Creme. This was a pretty simple mani. I used a toothpick for making the black lines. I can't wait to try out my next adventure (Splatter Nails), but the boyfriend said I had to do that outside. I guess he is still recovering from my water marbling adventure . What are your favorite cheetah combos?

Summer Coral Nails

Image
I have never owned a coral polish until the other day. I bought Wet n Wild Wild Shine Blazed. It is a beautiful color and it makes me wonder why I have not bought any coral polishes in the past. The polish was a bit streaky but two coats was all it took to have a fully opaque nail. So summer-y!! The pic is a bit blurry but really shows off the bright coral What are your favorite coral polishes?

Purple Passion Mani

Image
I went crazy at Wal-Mart yesterday and bought some new polishes. My first one I wanted to try out was Pure Ice Cheatin. I paired my new treasure with OPI's Louvre Me Louvre Me Not. The pictures do not do justice to the purple-pink-blue sparkly confection. This is a awesome polish that has endless layering possibilities. You can really see the blue glitter in this flash photo Is anyone else really into glitters right now? I am turning the corner and am growing to love it except for removal purposes.                                                                              ...

Jelly Sandwich Nails

Image
So I have seen on a lot of other blogs that fellow nail addicts have been making jelly sandwiches with their nails. I decided to try it out for myself. I used OPI Do You Think I'm Tex-y and Teenage Dream. I started out with my OPI base coat and then applied two coats of Do You Think I'm Tex-y and then two layers of Teenage dream. I then went back over the teenage dream with one coat of the Jelly (OPI-Sorbet) polish. I finished with one top coat for extra shine but the OPI Sorbet shades do dry shiny. I have another Jelly sandwich on my nails right now. More to come! What Jellies do you have and what is your favorite sandwich!?

NOTD: CND Oilslick

Image
I bought this polish some time ago and have never even put it on my nails. I decided to share it with you today. The color in the bottle looks black at first glance but it you put it up to light you will see it has a blueish tint to it. The color almost looks like ink. I put one coat of OPI Base Coat and ONE coat of the CND Oil slick. It was almost opaque with just one coat and that is awesome for a mani on the go.

My All-Time Favorite Pink Polish

Image
Most of my polishes are pink. I have just about every shade of pink you can imagine. My favorite of all of those is my Finger Paints Tropical Girl. I actually got a manicure about three years ago and picked this color for my polish. I got home and like really got obsessed about finding the polish. Needless to say I could not find the polish and found myself back at the nail salon begging the owner to buy the half-bottle of polish. He agreed. The polish is from a FingerPaints Summer Girls Collection in 07'. The polish is this pinky almost magenta color with sparkles that are pink and almost a blue color as you can tell in some of the photos. I L-O-V-E this color. You can see the blue sparkle on my pointer finger! View from in the sun. Just proves I need a better camera! I would be delighted if anyone had any colors that they think are similar that are actually for sale!

Black vs. Grey Shatter

Image
OPI Black Shatter China Glaze Crackle Glaze - Cracked Concrete I decided to try out black and gray shatters over my water marble nails to see how they looked. In my last post there was a colorful shatter mani that I really liked. I have to say the black shatter wins hand down. I was excited with the idea of the gray shatter but it is lackluster to say the least. It is is dull flat gray and I have had trouble finding pairings for it because it washes out most of my colors. I guess I'm just still a fan of the black shatter. What are your favorite color combos for shatter?
